We are in full swing here at home. It's soccer season, portrait season, and school activities/holiday events season. I had a wedding ceremony shoot sandwiched between two soccer games last weekend and finally managed to snap a few pics of Gavin playing ball and loving his sport. I have about 40+ pictures of Gavin playing this day. This is just a small sampling. He was fierce and played well this day. He scored with a PK in his select game with the 07s. He really enjoys when he gets to play up onto the select team. He can't wait until he's old enough to play on his own select team.
Hi, we're The Morrisons. I've been using this blog to keep in touch with my family and friends ever since leaving our native Texas in 2007 for the mountains of Southern Appalachia. In 2012 we moved back to Texas, because that's what Texans tend to do. Thanks for visiting our blog. We like to hear from you, so leave a kind comment or two!

Pumpkin Patch 2017
I had hoped to take boys to Sweet Berry Farm today, but unfortunately I was not feeling well and not up to making the drive and spending all day in the sun. We ended up driving east into Round Rock instead, and visiting St. Richard's Episcopal Church pumpkin patch instead. It was a little stressful for all of us, but we made it and came home with a few pumpkins and some sweet fall portraits.
We have a busy week. Our local high school's homecoming parade is tomorrow and we have some very special visitors to prepare for. Nana and Papa from Tennessee will be with all of next week.

Sawyer: First Day of PreK
Well it's finally here. Today, Casey dropped Sawyer off at his first day of preschool. We've been practicing with drop-off situations. Sawyer is dropped off at his friend Josh's house for 2-3 hours for play dates and also at the Children's Ministry at the new church we've been visiting. He's been excited about going to "big boy drop-off school" like brother, but as we got closer to today he grew a little anxious. I'm sure he's doing great though.
Gavin: First Day of Third Grade
Gavin started school the last week of August. All is well. He has a new bike riding group on the way to school, as his former buddy has matriculated up to middle school. Part of Gavin's back to school shopping was getting a new bike. He is very excited about it. He doesn't have any of his close buddies in his class this year, but he's already started making new friends and still gets to see his playmates at recess. His teacher is Mrs. Yates. This is the first year he will participate in STAR Testing and also switch teachers for different subjects. He asked for me to register him in Math Pentathlon, Chess, and Run Club again. First pic is from the morning and the second pic is when he returned home.
I used the first day of school to get Sawyer and Maddie back into the Monday story time routine. We meet our buddy Josh there.

Critters and Painted Rocks
If you're one of my regular blog readers then you already know me and my family pretty well. It's not surprising to you that we love the outdoors and natural environment around here. Sawyer especially has fallen in love with the wild critter world and is always bringing reptiles and amphibians and insects into our home. Here are just a few from the past week. We also painted rocks during the Hurricane Harvey event a couple of weeks ago. We were stuck inside with a lot of rain. We started painting and hiding rocks about a month ago after finding one at the library. The purpose of the Leander ROCKS group is to spread kindness and joy through painted rocks. Folks hide them around town and then as they are found they can be posted on the Facebook page. It's been a fun activity for me and my boys, though we've slowed down quite a bit with the beginning of soccer and school.
July Science Camp
Gavin's science camp instructor recently sent me these pics. Gavin was in science camp for a week during July, with his buddy Peter. He really enjoyed it and wants to go back next year, but next time he also wants to stay for the second half of the day, which is art camp.
