Well, Thanksgiving is just around the corner. Every year around this time I start to make a mental list of all that I am thankful for. And every year around this time I think "Geez Tiff, you should really remind yourself of these precious blessings on a more regular basis." Such is life. So here is my evolving list of what I need to think and be more thankful about. An incomplete list, in no particular order:
1. This guy, because he loves me unconditionally and makes a bad day so much more bearable.

2. Places like this

3. The Internet, for keeping me and my loved ones in touch even though we live thousands of miles away from each other.
4. These two, because their love truly is unconditional.

5. My in laws, for better or worse, we're family and they make life away from my family more bearable

6. Diversity, it makes my world a better place
7. Being employed and having an opportunity to continue my formal education and get paid at the same time. A blessing that can't be taken for granted these days.

8. My two favorite ladies, my mom and my sister (and Bristol because she is part of my sister), because they've known me the longest and they love me despite my flaws.

9. Uncertainty and CHANGE (politically, ideologically and personally), because nine times out of ten everything turns out for the better. I like those odds. And these things force one to rexamine their perspective, perhaps open their mind to the possibility that something wonderful will come out of the unexpected and terrifying. CHANGE forces growth (figuratively and literally). CHANGE forces one to learn new things about who they are, and even perhaps who others are. CHANGE is challenging and testing and on the other side of both challenge and tests are knowledge, accomplishment, and progress. CHANGE is not a dirty word. CHANGE is not a reason to freak out and pray for the future of the country, because OMG CHANGE IS COMING (run for the hills!!). Well I live in The Hills and I can testify that even here we need CHANGE. CHANGE is positive, albeit scary, but positive. So hold your breath for a little while if you need to, but do your best to think postive, not spread messages of hate and for Pete's sake attempt to enjoy the ride. This is my CHANGE.
