Happy anniversary to Casey and me!

Not only is it our 3rd wedding anniversary, it is also the 5th anniversary of our very first date! We went from Bombay Bicycle Club to the altar.

Honeymoon

Wedding Party #2, in Tennessee

Here we are back in April of 2006, a few weeks after we had started dating.

Casey and I met at work in San Antonio. At the time I had a potato growing on my window sill in my tiny apartment. We had a whirlwind romance agreeing to run away together after only about 6 months of dating. On Jan.1, 2007 we packed up and headed off to TN to spend some time with his parents who had moved out there for work several years before. I planted my potato in my MILs vegetable garden and got a crash course in home gardening. During the fall of 2007 we bought our first house and added two furry children to our tiny house. On Memorial weekend 2008 we were engaged, in March we were married. From May to August we had house guest living with us and we began the first of many remodeling projects - total demolition and remodeling of the bathroom. By July/August we were pregnant (though we didn't know it yet). At the time I had just quit my career in publishing/communications, had taken a major pay cut and was working two jobs just to make ends meet. I had also recently started back at school and was taking the first steps toward my new vocation in agriculture, though at the time I still wasn't quite sure what that new career would entail. On September 11, 2008 we found out I was pregnant. This was the catalyst for the second home improvement project - converting our then office into a nursery/bedroom. Nine weeks before my due date on March 6, 2009 Gavin was born, two days before our one-year anniversary.

For Gavin's first birthday party, which was at our house, we tackled the beginning of our kitchen remodel - painting the cabinets, adding a new ceiling light fixture and putting texture and primer on the walls. In 2011 I crossed off 15 hours of pre-requisite coursework and enrolled in a three more. On the homefront we added shutters to the front of our house, painted the panel and brick fireplace wall, and made over our master bedroom. Also in 2011 I learned to sew and Casey started brewing beer. We're currently working on our office/guestroom makeover with no plans for stopping or taking a break anytime soon, at least not for another 3-6 months! Spring is always a special time for us, it marks our first date, wedding anniversary and the birth of our son. Stay tuned as we add more to our story of whirlwind romance, remodeling and selling a home, raising a family, changing careers and perhaps, finally settling down and planting some roots.

Thanks for the good and character-building times, babe. Happy day of our love!!! xoxoxoxo
