Six Months

Well we're 2/3 of the way with cooking baby 2. The journey is quick and anticipations high. Much has happened since my last post. At least several posts worth - nursery prep and extended visits from both Nanas, a visit to Dallas for a family wedding and quality cousin time, the Dallas Zoo (a mother-son affair), soccer games, Halloween prep, a new teacher for Gavin, and even a date night! I've been taking more photos with my phone than my camera, something I hope to remedy (and I have my eye on a new lens). Studying for the GRE is still happening, but I've lost some momentum. I maybe overestimated my free time and stamina during this pregnancy, but I'm committed and determined. Not sure when I'll take the exam, either just before baby comes or a month or two after. I'm playing that one by ear. Ideally I will take it before, but this will depend on whether or not I am on bed rest, etc. Some of the programs I am interested in require a GRE score and others do not, they all require substantial writing samples and a compelling personal statement - all of which will take time.

I've had 7 progesterone shots and am feeling almost overly monitored between all the doctor visits and nurse follow-ups, but I suppose it is for the best. We are still keeping the sex of the baby a surprise. We have an evolving list of baby names. Baby now weights approximately 1.5 lbs. My go-to food craving continues to be a tall Starbucks hot chocolate and morning bun, which perhaps unfortunately is too easily attained considering there is a Starbucks in the parking lot of where I work. I'm doing my best to keep this craving in check.

Casey took this photo as we were leaving for a rare date night - dinner and live music in Austin's South Congress/1st district. A real treat! We ate at Elizabeth St. Cafe (French Vietnamese) and took in some soul music at the Continental Club (St. Paul and the Broken Bones).

Our annual fall camping trip is this weekend. We're staying close to home this year, Colorado Bend State Park.
