Gavin asked me to lay down with him at bedtime. I was nursing Sawyer at the time and told him I would have to bring baby brother with me. Gavin said that would be fine. I nursed the baby and sang lullabies and ran my fingers through the hair of my first born.
Despite our troubles transitioning to a family of four and more time at home, at the end of the day, Gavin still wants his mommy to lay down beside him and lull him into slumber. I cling to these moments as tightly as Gavin still clings to his blankey.
As I rolled away from Sawyer just long enough to capture this moment, he stretched and growled the way he does. I scooped him up just as he winced and began to cry.
It's not very often he starts his night in his own crib, but after more nursing and rocking in the glider I managed to make a successful transition from mommy's chest to his crib.
Progress.
