Tennessee Tea Party Baby Shower

Last weekend my mother-in-law, Cathy, and cousin-in-law, Shannon, hosted a fabulous little tea party baby shower. High tea was enjoyed by all. I finally got to introduce all my TN friends to my TN/GA family. Again, just like in TX, it was awesome to have so many wonderful women in one room and I am humbled by their generosity and sincerity as we celebrated the no longer impending birth of Gavin.

My mother-in-law put much thought into the gifts she crafted and the meaningful pieces she passed down from when Casey was a baby. The ladies in these pictures, as well as the men folk not in attendance but there in spirit(coworkers)have been incredibly supportive and encouraging during this trying time. From the sandwiches and fresh fruit to the gifts and prayers, they have showered us with much love. My thank you list continues to grow. In addition to the tangible way I will show my gratitude, I hope how Casey and I instill the value of giving into our tiny son is also a show of our gratefulness.

I've mentioned in previous blogs how my friendships here are few and fragile, well, that is still true but I gladly cradle these tender friendships as I truly find each woman in these photos (including those not photographed) remarkable. Among them are writers, artists, teachers, scientists, doctors, mothers, daughters, sisters, marathon runners, horse whisperers, dog whisperers, peace keepers, and earth lovers. They come from all over and yet somehow we all ended up in East TN (and GA), working and living in close proximity of each other.
