First go at homemade baby food

As planned, I used my baby food recipe books this weekend and made a few "entrees" for our little person. He's still a beginner eater so nothing too crazy just yet, just some simple purees. I froze them in ice cube trays to make for easy storage, servings and defrosting. The yellow cubes are spaghetti squash, the orange are carrots, the clearish ones down at the bottom are vegetable broths, to be used for mixing, poaching meats (for other recipes) or drinking. Not pictured is the brown rice and red bean. What Gavin doesn't like I can easily use in experimental sauces and soups for regular meals. My boys will never know the difference ;)

UPDATE 10-12: The brown rice and red bean (an unseasoned red beans and rice dish) did not turn out well. The pureed texture was no good. It was like shredded cardboard. So that will have to wait until he is eating finger foods.

I am going to work on homemade applesauce this weekend.
