Bossypants

I'm about half-way done with this book. My anticipation and enthusiasm for getting my hands on this not-quite-a-memoir written by a comedian that I am a huge fan of had really reached a fever pitch. So you can imagine how excited I was when my mother-in-law, who works parttime at a local public library, offered it to me - with the understanding that I needed to return it in two weeks.

Commense obsessive reading. Initially I was not sure what to think.

It took me a chapter or two to really get into, because the tone took me off guard. I am not sure why. I think maybe I was expecting something a little more light-hearted? While definitely humorous there is an underlying seriousness and she's crass, which I find endearing. Fey has strong opinions about controversial subjects and she uses the occasional obscenity. Tina Fey is sharp, quick witted, and unequivocally unapologetic and unafraid. I think what I enjoy the most are her critical thinking skills, well that and her ability to make me laugh out loud.

If you're looking for something smart and funny to read, then pick up Tina Fey's Bossypants.

I think I will do just that. I totally canNOT get into Steven Tyler's memoir. Bummer. I am still stuck in his childhoood. Which is cool. But, I have no drive to turn the pages, ya know?! Oh well. A good coffee table book, no doubt.

I don't like the cover! It's creepy. But I need to get past that and give it a try. Thanks for the reminder.
