Looks like caramel, smells like caramel, tastes like caramel...MUST be caramel!

My dad and my oldest bro made it across the country in one piece and will leave with a full belly. The bean soup and bread pudding with homemade caramel sauce were both a success!!! I am super excited about the caramel, I don't know why I had it in my head that it would be complicated and a complete disaster...salvagable only by breaking down and buying the smucker's microwave version from the Food City across the street at the last minute.

I timed my feast perfectly by making sure the bread pudding was half way done and baking in the oven, so when my hungry men came through my front door they would be welcomed with the warm and inviting smell of fresh baked goodies.

OK OK I admit...I stole this idea from that movie "Because I Said So" when the daughter puts a batch of cookies in the oven before her date arrives to pick her up.

we wish the Lucek's were here too...I wish everyone was up here. It was so nice to have some of my Texas family in my new home. I am very much looking forward to when you and Tom come out.
