A spring evening to remember...

While Casey and I have definitely been busy, we haven't forgotten to take time to enjoy simple pleasures like playtime in the evenings, grilling and eating on the deck, and most of all remembering to let each other know how much we care about one another. It's hard to believe that last week's weather was so intense when we have evenings like tonight. We had a great weekend. If only my pictures had been in better focus!

Gavin using the doggy door.

Speaking of this particular door, we finally found one that we can purchase to replace it. Hip, hip, hooray! We're excited. The house projects are moving along. This past weekend we purchased three interior doors for the bedrooms and bathroom; started ripping up the kitchen floor (you can see it in the doggy door photos); began texturing and priming the office/guest bedroom, bought crown molding for the guest bedroom AND began the process of getting new counter tops in the kitchen. A couple of easy projects we should be able to get done without spending anymore money are priming and painting the bathroom window shutters and at least getting started on priming and painting the new interior doors. A couple of weekends ago we finished installing the window in the bathroom, planted our garden and a couple of front porch planters and started the curb appeal landscaping. Casey is still commuting between Knoxville and Boston, my spring semester is quickly coming to a close. My final paper is due next week. Gavin and I made it through the terrible tornadic mega storm last week. My bro-in-law came up to check on us at one point in the evening. Casey stayed awake with us, well past midnight, to monitor the storms and send us text messages. My in-laws took Gavin Friday night, giving Casey and I an opportunity to have a night out (margaritas and music on Market Square), and me a chance to sleep in on Saturday. Whoa, what a difference that made. Casey won his soccer game tonight. My sewing machine is put away for now, but will eventually come out so that I can finish a few gifts and a couple of homemaking projects. Clearly my creative endeavors have taken a backseat while we work on the house and just spend more time outside enjoying the spring and each other. We're just a few short months from being able to reveal what's really going on here, and what the source of all this busy-ness is. Some of your already know and being the big blogger mouth that I am it's hard not to just blog my little heart out about it. Good things are coming...

Love to hear about your DIY projects and looking forward to some pictures as everything progresses!

Gavin is a DOLL! Oh my goodness, what a handsome little dude!

So glad you survived all the storms. The colder than normal temps kept things relatively calm here - a few tornadoes south of us but no one was hurt. It's terrifying to sit in front of the tv/radio/internet monitoring severe weather, especially at night. Ugh.

Busy!Busy! Awesome projects all around.

Glad you guys are doing alright after the storms. Weather is so weird. It's cold here today, in the mid 50s...and tomorrow, it'll be back in the mid 70's. Weird I told ya.

And Gavin. How insanely cute is he? Love the one where he's laughing. *I think my ovaries just leapt.
